Snug Bugs

When the news reported severe weather event in the South of England I am sorry to say that we cheered! We had endured the hardship of ice and snow since before Christmas with hardly a mention but even before the sighting of the first flakes all news coverage was south of Watford. The woe of seeing their bmw cars trying to cross their leafy suburbs encrusted with a bit of snow, heartbreaking really!

Here, I have embraced each daily snowfall by sweeping a path to the car and unwittingly created a luge ready for human racing. My intention was to increase the thickness of the walls as a buffering on the way to the back door but today's sulight is slowly reducing the structure to a mere edging along the path.

In all I have been contained in the house, cleaning, repairing and re-newing in both physical and spiritual. Snow, a symbol of purity and covering, keeping me within my borders protected from elements of speed and sound. Everything is slowed down and simplified with time to look again at things afresh. The light coming into the house is stark from the brightness of the snow and reveals the physical in new shadows and colours prompting me to look again and make changes where I like. Even the Bible reveals the Word of God afresh in this new light creating a feast for my soul and a wider window on the world than the television.

The central heating is warming us all artificially and expensively as we bask in the glory of gas and electricity enjoying my view out of the window as I keep snug inside.
